Between the growing list of additives such as excess sodium, sugars, and fats, lots of foods with these ingredients are mainstays in American culture. There even healthy foods that often have chemicals added for preservation, growth and protection that can harm us.


It is not always easy to know what is safe and what should be avoided. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has a list of fifteen safe and healthy foods. These foods generally have less chemical usage, so they are usually safe to eat nonorganic.  Even though it is said that eating organic produce is healthy this is not always a realistic choice for everyone. The foods listed are generally lacking in pesticide residue which means they are safer than other nonorganic foods. This allows you to save some money for other needs.
