Posted on Jun 15, 20

Kiwi is a fruit full of nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, Folate and potassium. It is also full of antioxidants and a good source of fiber. Kiwi is also high in serotonin and has been linked to improving your sleep quantity and quality by just eating 2 an hour before bed daily.

A study conducted studied the effectiveness of the fruit when consumed nightly for 4 weeks. After the time period waking time after sleep onset and sleep onset latency were significantly decreased and the total sleep time and sleep efficiency was increased. (Asia Pac J Clin Nutr. 2011;20(2):169-74)

This is due to serotonin being the precursor to melatonin, a neurotransmitter that is derived from the amino acid tryptophan. Serotonin is acetylated in the pineal gland and then methylated to yield melatonin.

Try this our yourself and see if it helps your sleep quality!
